Thanks! I Think...

I see a trend forming in all of our videos in which Landon and Anders are interacting: something really cute is happening ("Get the camera! Get the camera!") and we are dutifully praising Landon for his gentle behavior when... things change. Video ends abruptly.

I'll give credit where credit is due, though. L has been doing much better around baby brother these days. Do I leave him on the ground unattended when L is in the vicinity? Heeeell no. I think it will be months before I even consider that. Until then, Anders rules the roost from his bouncy chair on the kitchen counter.*

*Yep, I know it's against every warning printed on an infant chair. I'll let you in on a little secret: every parent does it.

The Great Built-in Build of 2012

From the moment we saw the living room in our house, we both immediately thought "wow, built-in bookcases would look really nice around the fireplace."  As we got settled into the house and the projects started piling up we basically tabled the idea of such a large project so close to the Anders arrival and my busy work schedule. 

Built-ins would look nice, right?

But the more Landon and Anders' toys started piling up (spoiled rotten!), the more appealing the idea of some extra storage sounded.  So we figured what the heck? How hard could it be?

Using a combination of Google Sketchup and an assortment of books on cabinetry, I came up with the following design that was approved by The Boss.

The lumber has been purchased, the dimension have been checked and double checked and we are all set for construction to begin.  Hoping to make some good progress over the holiday weekend...that's if the boys cooperate!

Two Months!

Last week "The Ders" celebrated his two month birthday with coos and farts and smiles. He is a big boy tipping the scales at over twelve and half pounds, but he's still tiny and squishy compared to big brother. Let me tell you that changing Anders' size 1 diaper and then moving over to changing Landon's size 4 diaper makes L look like he has honkin' sized buns. Potty training is on the horizon for that one!

Likes:

- The song "In the Jungle" (cue: a weema way a weema way, a weema way a weema way...)

- Being upright with butt pats (Dad's job)

- Post nursing "toots and poops" while lounging in the boppy pillow

Dislikes:

- He is starting to get used to Landon hugs and doesn't wince as much, but I don't think the dive bomb type hugs are quite welcomed yet. Kudos to big brother, though, for learning to take it down a notch.

- Being left in the bouncy chair for too long while everyone else is having fun.

A New Season

Well we couldn't get all of the boys in one shot because someone was a little cranky, but regardless the NFL preseason started this weekend and Erik is very excited about RGIII bringing a decent season for the Redskins. We shall see. We shall see.

"Guys in tight pants and big heads throwing around squished brown ball. Got it."

"Yeah, I play with Dora but I also crash cars and wear ill-fitting sweatshirts, what's it to ya?!"

Anders' Birth Day

It only took me two months to pull this together, as opposed to the one month it took me for Landon's video. Which just proves my theory thus far that everything takes twice as long with two kids.

Hand Plane Restoration

My husband likes to buy crappy looking used hand planes at garage sales and flea markets given they are foundationally sound and under $10. I asked why he needs multiple planes and I think he said something about different blade angles and thickness. Wood. Yep.

I do think he does a nice job restoring them, though. Check out what a little sanding and buffing and staining can do! He could probably resell them for a good profit but I bet my  packrat snookum wookums hangs on to them for a few decades.
