We are looking forward to buying a home later this year. After being perpetual renters, we definitely have a strong sense of what does and does not work for us. White glass cooktop stoves? Does not work for us. Plush green lawn? Works for us. Improper seals on doors that allow scorpions in house? Does not work for us. Properly functioning plumbing? Works for us. You get the drift. Plus my extreme hours logged watching home and reno shows on HGTV and DIY networks over the years surely will also be an asset in understanding what we can and cannot change. I knew it wouldn't all be for nothing!
I would really love a craftsman-style home someday

I can talkity talk talk about that stuff for ages, but at the end of the day, we have to live somewhere. And when the time comes, if that means a house built in the 90's with 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, a laundry room and open layout that fits the bill, then design preferences will have to be put aside for the time being. We are young(ish), it'll be our first home and we may have to sell it in 5 or 6 years, so there will have to be a little mind over heart in the decision.
I'm still so outrageously excited, though! Yippee!!!
